Power banks

Looking to get a power bank to charge my phone, garmin watch and headlamp if needed for a week long hunt. I was originally looking at the dark energy Poseidon since it’s marketed all over but had concerns over capacity. Now I’m seeing banks from brands like Anker with double the capacity for half the cost. Sure they may not be as durable but how likely is it I’m going to be submerging my power bank?

Any thoughts? Any recs?

I’ve used Ankers for the last 8 years and never had any issues.

I have two poseidons, one is 5 years old, one is 2. they get me through 14 days with a iphone for mapping and texting/calling and the original garmin instinct.

I have a couple of Anker PowerCore 10000's that have been reliable and are fairly light at 6.4oz. If I end up needing to replace one I might try the Nitecore NB10000 since it's an ounce lighter, but it's also more than twice the cost.

Get two Nitecore NB10000’s. I have three, two are over 5 years old now and work great still. Use them all the time. Much prefer having multiple small ones vs one big.

I don't really get the Dark Energy thing. Good on them for marketing to hunters, but I don't really see what problems it solves. It's hard to believe it's not just a mass produced bank in a custom enclosure.

I bought a Anker 10,000 5 years ago and I'll be damned if it still doesn't hold a charge and do everything I need it to do at a relatively light weight. I am currently looking at buying a 20,000 Anker based on how happy I am with the current one I own.

Yeah I guess it’s like indestructible but I don’t see myself smacking it on rocks and jumping into the water with it so as long as the ankers can handle rain I think I’ll go with that, probably the 20k one.

From what I’ve seen no. What I’ve read is that they really don’t work well and weigh more than they’re worth. Some I’ve seen people say it takes a full day in the sun to charge it back up like 20%. And a 20k one will get you thru like 10 days or more.

I have four Ankers. Had most for 5 years or better. No issues. I have a 6800(?)two 10ks, a 22k.
Doing it again I would buy two 10ks and call it good. The 22k is pretty heavy. 6800 is light and nice for a day hunt. The 10k are not that much heavier and get the most use.

I just spent a week with 5 people and we all survived on my 2 INUI power banks. They are both 20,000mah. That kept everyone’s inreach topped off, phone, my Garmin watch and BD1500 batteries full for headlamps.

I’m sure 20000mah either in a single or two 10k batteries would keep you going no problem. These were a brand I bought a 2 pack off Amazon for $70 a couple of years ago.

over the past 6 years I’ve had 2 or 3 Ankers. A couple of them I’ve had issues with, one I think I lost. When replacing I bought a Nitecore and haven’t had any issues over the last year. The Ankers are cheaper but a little heavier, and many people don’t have any issues with them, but that hasn’t been my experience.

I’ve used nitecore for the past few years and have had no issues. 10k gets me a week with an Inreach and a phone and still have plenty left. I have a 20k I bring if someone else is coming along

Thanks everyone! I ended up ordering 2 20k Ankers one for me and one for gf. I’d probably upgrade to nitecore in future based off what people say. The ankers should get me through for awhile
