Myself and 4 others are shooting 7mags with 180 Berger’s. Two of them are using RL-26, one is retumbo, and I am using H-1000. All shooting great at at long distances.
I did my barrel break in with RL-25 and had goup grouping with minimal speed deviations.
Depends what that gun likes 👍🏻

I shoot 175 gr interlocks and load with 55.5 H4350. My twist is 1:9.5. I'm guessing they are traveling about 2800. I prefer the the round nose but they don't make them anymore. I've got a big enough stockpile to last into my mid- 90s.

I normally use hodgdon powders but had some accurate magpro and decide to work up a load with it for my dad's gun I built. Results were impressive to say the least (tikka 7mm with proof 24"). 20230123_165518.jpg
Later shot a 10 shot group at a whopping .56" and has since been repeated. Needless to say he bought some more magpro and 162s. These were all loaded at mag length 3.35.
Hope this helps!

What grain bullet and how many grains of H4350 are you using? What is your bullet speed?

I happen to have some H4350
I usually run a 162 grain bullet of various makes but mainly sierra game king on top of 57 grains of H4350. It's supposed to push 2,800 fps. More importantly it's a sub MOA load out of my Winchester model 70.

Out of curiosity why not use a different powder and gain 100-150 fps and still more than likely maintain accuracy?

A couple 100 fps might shoot farther but you will see a lot more bloodshot.
Wouldn't it make more sense to shoot a 7-08 if that's the thought process. Maybe I'm a bit out of whack but why shoot a magnum without magnum performance when there's a plethora of other cartridges that can safely achieve similar velocities of a loaded down magnum but at the cost savings of normally cheaper brass, less powder, shorter chamber, etc. Etc.

We went that way initally an experienced lots of bloodshot. Sometimes up to 60% meat loss. We went to bigger bullets that shot well so we could kill elk every year and eat right up to the hole. Taking a beating and not getting to eat your game wasn't worth whatever ego trip we were on. It's worked every year since 1970.

When you say 60% meat loss you are only talking on the specific shoulder that was hit correct? Not 60% of total yield?

Once. Through the ribs. Went to 220 gr bullets reduced velocity to 2750. Haven't had a problem since.

My seven shoots 175 grain around 2800. My total loss per animal including fat is less than 5 lbs.

7mm-08 is an elk killer.
