Posting Photos Without Losing Quality?

Ok, rookie question….my photos look really good/clear on my iPhone, but when I post them they look grainy/blurry. Tried to host it with Flickr, but it won’t give me the BBCode, and other sites look like they lose clarity in the photo. So, what’s the best way/site to host a picture so they look as good on the forum as they do on my phone?

Why don’t you upload them directly to the forum straight from your phone? Why do you need to use a host?

Because they never look as good on the forum as they do on my phone. It’s my understanding that the forum likely compresses them on upload which degrades quality.

I haven’t noticed any bad photos (from anyone) in a long time but I do see the occasional one that definitely stands out.

Try re-saving as PNG. My understanding is that PNG is compression-less format. Most phones keep your pictures as a jpg

Here’s one example. If you zoom in on the picture, the “Venture 1800” on his pack is kind of blurry/hard to make out. If I zoom in on the picture on my phone it is clearly legible. Everything else gets a little blurry too, but that is the easier at thing to key in on. Using a PNG that is small enough for the forum to allow is even worse.
