As a follow up, while I 100% don't agree with Liberty freely giving out customer combinations to their safes, at the end of the day it probably worked out better for the owner of the safe. FBI is getting into it one way or another. With the combo, the safe is still usable and undamaged. If they had cut their way in, you would not longer be using the safe. It definitely makes one think about changing combos for any lock they have.

If Liberty had withheld the combination, the safe would have been drilled/cut open and likely ruined, and it might have resulted in the sale of another safe in the future. From my perspective, Liberty did their customer a solid (even if he was too dumb to understand it) by preventing the safe from being damaged by being opened by a locksmith or someone with an angle grinder.

I like the Browning safes that I've owned. One has a mechanical dial and the other had a digital combo.

Mine are all Browning, 2 Prestige and a Silver Medallion. When I get to the point where I can sell one, it will be the Silver Medallion. It's nice enough, but the Prestige series are that much nicer & better.

OT: I had 3 cheap ones that I sold a few years ago. A Remington and Winchester from Sam's Club, and a Cannon from Tractor Supply. I heard from the guy I sold the Cannon to about a month ago, he couldn't remember the combination. I gave him my best guess.

Hear of guys when building break out the concrete and re-bar and build a walkin safe/ securty vault and purchase a door . Humidity/temp controlled the whole works. Im sure pricey

In the scope of a project that would include one, they're really not that expensive.

Especially compared to a gun safe (or two) and a storm shelter.

No idea what brand mine is. Got it from my dad. Mech lock....zero markings on it. Heavy as a mofo. Safes are like locks on your front door or car. Prevents easy quick access. If someone wants in they will get in. A bit nore fire protections is an obvious benny but in a major complete loss on the house I have a hard time thinking guns will come out ok anyways. If we build our next house or buy where the layout makes sense. Ill have a walk in "hidden room"

A gun safe is just an advertisement of where you keep your most valuable items.
With a quality metal blade and skill saw it takes barely over 1 min to cut into the side of the best safe. No torch or grinder needed. Only a fool tries to pry the door open.

It's not just that Liberty gave up the code but that they have given a pile of money to the Democrat party.
I won't ever buy any of their products.

This, its not about whether or not they can get in my safe if they want to. Its about a companies corporate culture.
