Leupolds are like women, I hear of a few good ones out there, but most of them have some kind of issue, broken, junk.

Old guys have had there’s for years and don’t wanna switch.
😂
I’m one of the old guys. My son would be middle age. My three grandsons are in their teens. Between the five of us we have 12 Leupolds on rifles. No problems. You couldn’t put all the Whitetails we have killed with these scopes in a 53-102. I won’t change horses while this one is working. Not a fan boy. Just have confidence in what has worked for me. Did buy a used Swarovski that has performed well. Not any better than the Leupolds. Could have bought two new Leupolds for what I paid for it used. WTH was I thinking?
Good Luck to the guys that re being convinced to buy new scopes!

I’ve had an LHT for 4 years now. It’s killed close to 40 animals from 17 yards to 957 yards, but the local RS expert has convinced everyone it’s junk. At this point I just keep killing shit with it, along with my family and friends.

Oh, still holding a zero from 2021 when it was sighted in new. I think I just don’t hunt hard enough to see a failure…

It is frustrating sometimes, but I’m pretty much over arguing with the “expert”, most of the time. 😂
Never said your vortex was junk or anyone else’s for that matter. Nor did I claim to be an expert. I merely stated that everything has some probability of failure and that denying it is folly.

I understand your post wasn’t directed at me and I’m glad your LHT is still working as intended.

I’ve never even seen the RS “Drop test” thread. Does in fact sound pretty random based off description I read in this thread. I wouldn’t put any stock in such a test. Sounds like it might make for some entertaining reading, though.

You should look at it. It’s simple and not excessive. 18-36” drops on a camping pad. It’s all the sort of impacts that could easily happen on a hunt. If a scope passes that it gets shot for 3k rounds and zero get tracked throughout. I’ve personally had scopes lose zero from falling over while leaned against a tire and even just from the vibration of riding in a truck on washboard roads in the desert. I would not say the results invalidate reasons to own a scope, but they do give you a better understanding of what to expect under field conditions when bad stuff happens.
