My 67 yr old dad drew a Ky bull elk rifle tag!

Wow...very excited for him. Never has hunted elk. He is super pumped.

Anyone ever do this hunt?

Congrats to him! I'm a resident, failed to draw again, for 5th year. I put in for archery bull and elk, should be a matter of time.

Jdog , how is the access in the area he drew ? The problem with hunting in the east is always access it seems.

We have over 500,000 acres of public land in the elk restoration zone. Some is better than others so there is a secondary drawing where you list your top choices and are then draw for those. The best spots are limited access areas and those are the ones you want to put in for. The website has harvest stats for each area.

Popps will likely hire a guide and/or pay a trespass fee. His buddy drew a cow permit two yrs ago and they will likely use the same guide/dude.

Haha! Yeah I've been researching a lot assuming I get drawn soon seriously y'all should look at the public land closest to the original release sites you can find a map on the KYfwd website.

Congrats! I drew an archery cow tag this year and am just beginning my research into which area to hunt. I prefer DIY public land.

I've put in for a Bull tag ever since they started the draw forever ago as a resident and still haven't drawn. Frustrating but that's life. Hoping next year is my year, because it will be my last year to apply as a resident
