I hear this is a lighter material for use as a ground cloth than tyvek. Have any of you used it in a floorless shelter as a barier under your sleeping pad? If so I'm wondering if it is slippery like silnylon, and if I would be fighting my sleeping pad all night to keep it on the polycryo. Anyone have experience with this stuff?

Haven't used it but planning on using it this season. BTW, it's literally the same stuff as the shrink window film. I think the 2mm heavy duty is the stuff you would want.

The stuff I have is 0.7 mil weighs 0.9 oz for two 3'x3' pieces I used for de-boning. and a 6'x8' piece I kept whole is 2.3 oz. Its a big enough difference I switched from Tyvek

It gets holes pretty easily, but a spot of duct tape stops it from opening up. It is a bit slippery, but not silnylon slippery. I had good results with it and it's easily worth just getting a new chunk after any long trip. It packs down tiny, which is what I really liked about it.

I used to use Tyvek or shower curtain for a ground cover in my floor less shelter, but then I finally said why? Now, I just throw my pad on the ground. I don't need a flimsy piece of plastic between the ground and my sleeping pad. My pad doesn't absorb water, I don't care if my pad gets dirty, and my pad doesn't get punctured by what is on the ground in CO. The only time my pad isn't directly on the ground is when I am backpacking with wifey and she needs the security of a flimsy net and floor for some reason.

For me I'm using a down quilt on my pad and it will come in contact with the ground if I don't have a barrier...
