Can't believe taking a bear in a den is legal due to the inability for the person to tell whether there are cubs present or not. After you kill a bear and discover the cubs, you either leave them to starve or break another law to do the possibly more humane thing??? Bad situation.

Lying and covering up likely increased the sentence more than anything. I completely understand that they broke a law, and then made the situation WAY worse in breaking more laws to try to cover it up...

This thread is sort of surreal. Would any of us shoot an elk calf? Even using the term "baby bears" vs cubs strikes me as peculiar. Anybody "high 5" a hunting partner after a successful shot? Ever been videoed on a game cam without your knowledge?

Not defending all of their actions by any means, but some of the comments here sound like they're coming from anti-hunters.

None of the posts on this thread sound like they're coming from anti-hunters. If that video and the actions of those absolutely despicable "human beings" doesn't bother you to the core as a hunter, maybe one shouldn't be hunting.

Why is that legal anywhere is a question also??? Are they killing the bears to reduce predators or are they just terrible sportsman? Not that I’d condone that “hunt” at all!!!!!!!!

It’s legal in parts of AK for predator control. What these idiots did was illegal for sure, and they should be prosecuted to the fullest extent, but there are parts of the state where predators are out of control (especially wolves), and desperate measures need to be taken to try and alleviate a desperate situation.

To bad for them they're not famous. Pay a fine and have a good laugh at the little people's expense.

For me the illegal part is terrible and a high 5 after that and then talking trash and covering it up is also terrible. It’s hard to believe that it’s legal in other parts of AK. I’m by no means aware of the predator problem there but dang that seems brutal. What I’m getting at is if they were in a legal area we would have no gripe or at least couldn’t blame them for law breaking.

We are an interesting species for sure...capable and demonstrative of great beauty and good...and then there's this...and this does not represent the majority of us.

This is sickening, if these two scum bags are capable of this type of act, what other horrible acts have they committed to wildlife or society!

Leftist claim the same thing:

If you could kill a poor innocent animal and smile about it who's to say you won't do it to a human.
