I went through this for a couple months, seemed like only a certain pair of shoes brought this on, I quit wearing them for a while and it went away, good luck with it.
I also struggled with it for several years while only trying stretching, ice, dry needling.... Was too stubborn/cheap for orthopedic inserts. After several years with problem escalating, I finally gave in and got some custom inserts, best $400 I ever spent!
As others have stated everyone is different. My plantar fasciitis was severely debilitating. I was barely able to walk after Elk season some years back and custom orthotics from my Dr were the ticket. I did some PT and side exercises, but the orthotics made a difference within ~72 hours, so I would vote for spending the $$ to get them prescribed. YMMV, but worth every penny for me!
