Pit zips and durability

Been considering adding pit zips to a few jackets I use for hunting, however I've read about some problems with the durability afterwards.
Anyone here done it themselves or had it done professionally? Do you think it's worth it or does it compromise durability too much?

I put pit zips in my rain jacket myself. I have no opinion on durability being an issue. since I completed this I have only worn my jacket a couple times. I run warm and sweat excessively so pit zips are worth it for me.
