Hunting "with" stock can be fun at times, trying at times and a downright ADVENTURE MOST of the time - It's a big responsibility to take on and much more work than most folks ever dreamed it might be - It will make a better hunter out of you AND a better person if you take the moments to appreciate what that livestock is doing for you - patience IS a virtue and there is often a fine line separating good stockmanship from abuse, best to learn that line and heed it - I've watched several die on the trail while working their heart out but there is nothing more satisfying than becoming good with livestock AND a good hunter at the same time - "Cowboys" rule ......

The absolute truth!!!

It's a bad picture but there are 2 elk coming out in this picture. My nephew shot a cow Saturday. It was his first elk hunt and his first big game animal. We went in the yesterday with a pack saddle on a mule. The elk were in the same hole and I shot a cow 200 yards from my nephew's. We loaded all the hind quarters and the backstraps on the grey mule. I took 2 front shoulders tied off on my saddle horn on the mule I was on. My nephew took a shoulder on his horse and my uncle took a shoulder on his horse. It was a good weekend. My nephew is the little guy on the right on the Palomino horse. If I can get better pictures I'll post them.
