Good morning.

I will get a pic up later today, but looking for ideas for a new knife. Not necessarily just for hunting, but I have my EDC figured out.

I guess I just like looking at cool knives, post em up!

Nothing fancy, I carry two knives in my pack a Havalon Piranta and a buck 102 (4" fixed blade). Then the small Case sod buster, my edc is in my pocket.

I'm thinking of picking up a knife from Curt @ thewoodvault.Com really nice looking knives.

My edc is a Benchmade Hidden Canyon Hunter with the wood grip, horizontal sheath.

My EDC is a Benchmade Mini Griptilian 556...I haven't found a flaw with it yet.

The only knives I take on my mountain hunts anymore. Kestrel titanium skinner at 0.9 oz. and a Kestrel s/s caper at 0.7 oz.

My EDC was a deal too good to refuse. I found it at work one day.

I've been looking really hard at that skinner, but it's awfully expensive compared to a havalon. How much do you like it?

I like it a lot. It's definitely not a detail knife but for taking the hide off with ease, it works great. With it being titanium and having the carbide edge it's like a serrated edge and works very well at separating the skin from the fascia/meat. The serrated like blade allows you to work fast and you don't really have to worry about slipping or making a bad cut and cutting through the hide. It will cut through the hide but you have to try to do that. I also have a Havalon but I don't like using it as much for general skinning, because it's so sharp I'm not able to work as fast or I end up making a lot of mistakes and cutting through the hide. One little slip with the Havalon and you're through the hide, but not so with the ti Kestrel. I'm also a big fan of UL gear as long as it works well and I don't think there is a lighter skinning knife out there.
