Photography- one photo a day

I love mushrooms but not sure how to tell the difference between the safe ones and the others.
The best way is to talk with someone in your area who hunts mushrooms. I only know two varieties that are safe to eat and they were shown to me by someone else. I guess I know morels and chantrelles as well, but they aren't nearly as prevalent as the oysters I pick. Especially during fall hunting seasons.

Try here to get started: Mushroom Society of Utah | Facebook

From their webpage: "There are poisonous mushrooms that grow in Utah, and some can be confusing to identify. All of the edible mushrooms listed above are fairly easy to identify. Once you learn about them there is NO chance of confusing them with poisonous mushrooms."

And that's really the thing. I instantly recognize the oysters I pick - there is zero chance of confusing them with anything else growing. It's like looking at a black lab versus any other dog. I don't know what the other varieties are, but I don't eat them so I don't need to know.

Wisconsin fall hunting can be beautiful. Probably the most beautiful day I have spent in the Wisconsin deer woods. ...and yes, the rainbow was that brilliant!
