I love these old stumps with the springboard notches in them. Most of the timber here on the island was cut pre chain saw.

I had a 9 footer in my yard at my first house. Funny how men tamed these huge trees with sweat and muscle, now the trees are smaller all the time and machines do most of the work.

Somebody was feeding this baby buck and he figured out he could make rounds through the neighborhood and not have to work for his food.
two weeks after this pic the neighborhood cougar got him.

This only happens one or two days in September and lasts maybe 20 minutes.

One of my favorite adventures...a remote lake-drop, unguided grizzly hunt...

Our tents are just out of sight to the left of the first image, and the next two images are scanning to the right for 90 degrees...a remote, memorable setting. A sow with two cubs walked very near our camp after last light on the first night and quickly ran off loudly grunting, startled and surprised to learn that we were there!!
