May long weekend of last year, usually prime time for both spring bear and morel hunting...not one bear spotted and this is the only mushroom we found all weekend. Still fried it up with garlic butter and made one tiny trophy meal!

Awesome haul! Exactly haha, that trip was pretty much a bust no matter how you look at it and the rest of the season was pretty dry...at least my son got a taste though, he's ready to give er this spring and I'll be sure to show him that photo for extra motivation!

My son was curious if horsetail was actually any good or if bears just eat it because it's there. He invested some time collecting a big batch of it before deciding it's most definitely the latter.

What are the Orange headed birds?We have Gambels,
Mearns and Scaled Quail here but I've never seen those...

Correct. Hungarian Partridge. Tough birds. Endure some Nast weather and are a great sport.
