Headed to Phoenix AZ in a couple days! Been is Sedona for a couple days hiking. For those that’s been to Phoenix or live there, what is there to do besides eat, drink, and hike? Thanks for the info!

Rent boats at Lake pleasant or Canyon lake. (Bighorn sheep spotted easily at Canyon)
Hot air balloon rides ( if the weather cooperates)
Indoor shooting ranges
Axe throwing and beer drinking
Indoor skydiving
Real skydiving
Just a few off the top of my head.

Also, largest public shooting range in USA (Ben Avery) not far from the ATV place.

There are a number of casinos in the valley if that's your thing.

If you play golf, lots of good courses here, but I hear prices, and demand, are high.

We (wife, 12 year old son and me) did this about a year ago and it was very kewl to see and explore.

Since time immemorial, Indigenous Peoples have lived and traveled throughout Walnut Canyon’s dynamic landscape. Vibrant communities built their homes in the cliffs and farmed along the canyon’s rim. Today the park preserves this landscape, and the ancestral homes in and around the canyon.

Lastly, have a meal here and hang for a bit. Good vibe and place and they have live music and bull riding on Saturday nights I think.

I recommend renting SxS's and do some exploring in the desert. Golf is cliche'. Hiking is fine, but gets old in my opinion. Get out in the desert and explore. My $0.02

When I lived there for five years 1994-1999 my fondest memory was the contest a radio station had for predicting the first 100 degree day which was in March. Great time living there but the heat is a killer dry or not and I had the pleasure of coaching football in the heat.

Incredible food choices in the valley. Ben Avery as mentioned is a great range to visit. Spring training baseball will be in full swing soon and yes the golf is expensive until the snowbird/tourists go away which is when the real heat kicks in.

Yep being from near Cincinnati I am disappointed I can’t go watch Spring training especially since our hotel is right next door to the stadium!

Flew out there prolly 20 years ago. As we were landing the pilot did his welcome to
Phoenix monologue and casually mentioned that it was currently 117'F.
Looked over at my wife and said; I'm ready to go home now.
Stayed inside the whole time.

Also check out the Renaissance festival out in GOLD canyon. That's pretty fun with interesting things and people. Plus you can walk around with big turkey legs and mugs of beverages. There is a pretty awesome bow shop in chandler called Archery HQ as well.

As others have mentioned, no spring training right now
Also, Ben Avery has been reservation only for quite some time due to coronavirus and it fills up weeks in advance
I definitely recommend renting a utv
Keep in mind, most of those places have a $3000 deposit requirement
Make sure you have a card with that much available
If you rent from New River, Black Canyon City, etc, run the desert between there and Lake Pleasant
Go to the lake and eat lunch at Dillon's

Why in the hell is Ben Avery on reservation only basis because of Covid? That's the dumbest thing on the planet given all the data showing being outside results in very little chance of transmission. Who the hell is running that place? They need to pull their head out of their ass. Hard pass on those knucjleheads, I'll just head out to my favorite spot in the desert to shoot.
