Peterson 's Hunting - Small caliber article

Yeah. Cause none of the newbies to small calibers would post their bad outcomes?

With all the bitching people do here they wouldn’t love to tell the small caliber crowd how stupid they are and how they cost them the BOAL?

Yeah right.
People love being right about what they have already comitted to. Very rarely do people actually stop and reconsider.

Exactly. And a 223 doesnt meet that definition.
I get it, you are trolling. 223 with a good bullet kills very quickly.

Describing yourself perfectly here.

I once thought a 30-06 was minimum for AK hunting. Because I'm not pig head I reassessed and kept questioning until I abandoned my former position and carry a 223 sometimes when looking for moose or browns.

If you are the jumpy sort that cannot wait for a good shot and hold your nerves, take Kilimanjaro Bells advice and carry the biggest gun you can. Or, learn to manage your nerves and carry something smaller like Bell did himself.

Nahhh.

I never wanted to use a .223 on elk, but I’m about ready to buy one and try it. Not because of those that have used it and say it works, but because of those that haven’t and say it doesn’t.🤣
That is its main appeal. There isnt a 700 page thread for .308. Everyone knows its works. It would be boring.

I showed up for my one and only Colorado elk hunt years ago with a .270 and 150 grain partitions. All the other Midwestern tools I was with had 300WM rifles and thought I was stupid for bringing "such a small gun". Before the outfitter left us to ourselves he asked us all what we were shooting. He seemed pleased to see my .270. It turns out my "small gun" worked fine. All of the magnum guys but one lost or missed elk. It's interesting to me to witness the slow change in that's happening with cartridges. Imagine the horror if I'd shown up with a .223!

As with everything else, you speak of things you don't know. Everyone certainly doesn't believe a 308 works on elk.
