Peak 44 Bastion Tikka Review

I bedded a beat up 6.5 CM t3x lite and dropped in a new .223 t3x lite with no fitment or accuracy issues.

You may run into problems I think with excess epoxy in front of recoil lug and different barrel profiles (I.e lite, CTR). But ita probably more important to bed behind lug and can remove excess epoxy from barrel area with Dremel or sandpaper, should that occur.

Bed the action, not the barrel.

Just adding to this thread since I lurked on it a bunch: just got my tikka Bastion and it only weighs 21(!) oz with the lug already pre-installed by Peak44 (sounds like that’s a new thing). Icing on the cake with the fantastic ergos. Got here exactly 1 week after 90 days.

Cheek riser also was a good height, I had a victor titan with one spacer under it, came out roughly the same. Dropped right into the stock with solid accuracy. Couldn’t be happier really… and it actually looks good, novel concept.IMG_2783.jpeg

How’s the recoil pad on the Bastion? Looks like a unique design
Its soft in the center, stiffer at top and bottom due to the crescent shape. Not a huge fan. I prefer a stiffer recoil pad myself, not a limbsaver fan either, too squishy.

Have thought about filling the crescent with 3d printed spacer and installing a traditional pad.

Its a 1.25# stock, gonna have compromise.

Since LOP is short on the Bastion I added a 1/2 inch Limbsaver slip on and its a good compromise. A Weatherby podcast from a year or two ago they talk about the 3d Hex pad and the tech behind it.

My bastion is on a 6CM so recoil isn't an issue but the stiffness of it would make me question it on something with a higher recoil energy.

Mine is on a 280ai. It's not terrible recoil (I think the original CA stock was worse) but the gun also utilizes a suppressor, so there is some mitigation there also. I do wish it was easily switched to another pad. I like the LOP, so I'm not putting on an additional slip on recoil pad.

If they would have made the LOP just a little longer I think it would have been beneficial for almost everybody. Even just 1/8" - 1/4" would help. That is my only complaint other than the lug didn't come bedded from the factory and they claim warranty is void if the lug isn't bedded. Such a simple thing for the factory to do. Sounds like they now changed that.
