Peak 44 Bastion Tikka Review

Decided to burn up some 105 BTHPs at the range. This stock is unbedded and I have not bedded the recoil lug. I may still do that, but I'm not sure I'll see a huge difference either way. I'm curious to see if the OP ends up doing that.

Overall, I'm still digging the stock. It is a big improvement over the factory stock as well as the previous B&C I was using. I also recenlty bought the Arca/Pic rail attachment that they offer, which looks just like the Salmon River one, I'm guessing they make this for Peak. Nice piece of kit, imo.

I have a Bastion on my Weatherby, stock is 21oz. LOP is short I added a 1/2 limbsaver Airtech slip on which helps. Otherwise fit and finish and ergos are excellent. I also have a Tikka Rokstok. Yes the comb is high, perfect for prone, a little hard getting used to off hand shooting. Stock did tighten my groups up. Both are good stocks I like the Peak better but it’s also $250-$300 more.

Which Weatherby model has the Bastion? I'd like to see if a local shop has one that I can test before ordering for my Tikka.

When you said the comb is high and a little hard to get used to for offhand, are you talking about the Bastion or the Rokstock?

Any other differences worth noting between the two?

I beleive the Apex and Highcountry have the Bastion, the Backcountry has the Blacktooth. But really, if your LGS has Weatherby, they likely have multiple models.

I purchased my Bastion from Peak 44. Rokstok has a high comb and was a little hard to get used to off hand shooting. Comb height on Bastion is perfect for me. Bastion and Blacktooth are both high quality can’t go wrong with either. Good luck!

I ordered a Bastion on Black Friday. Got it last week. Haven't used it yet, as the local sportsman club is closed due to bad weather in January.

The included recoil lug fit quite loose. So I did some bedding. Will see how that works out. Can always Dremel it out and redo if I somehow screwed it up.

My Black Friday stock came in as well but I’m still waiting on barrel and action work.

I stopped by Scheels to fondle one of these last night. The quality felt really good, palm swell felt nice but I do wish they had some stippling or texture.

What height rings is everyone using on the Bastion? They didn't have a rifle with a scope mounted on it but the comb height felt a little low to me. I use a stock pack with a few Velcro shims on the factory Tikka stock.

I was using Seekins lows and they worked fine with a 50mm scope. I switched them to Nightforce mediums though, as I wanted a bit more height so I could scoot the scope forward a bit.

I have Hawkins lows with a 50m scope right now. I am a bit of a face smasher though, I think I need to work on that and the comb height on the Bastion would be comfortable for me.
