I think my factory tikka barrel is due for a replacement and looking at options that’ll be here in plenty of time before hunting season and both of these have short lead time and are very comparable in price and seem to have lot of use on here. Either way it’ll be a 22” 6.5 prc. Any preference one way or the other? One typically faster than the other? (My tikka barrel isn’t exactly winning any speed races for a prc)

My fastest barrels have been proof stainless steel.
I’m leaning that way partially because that seems to be a semi common sentiment. Plus I haven’t had a carbon since trying a Christensen that was a train wreck and curious to give another one a try.

I would be looking for a factory take off 6.5prc threaded barrel. They are typically 22.4"

Unknown Munitions sells them but they are out currently
I have a restock notification for one just in case. If nothing else a cheap way to get through the season and regroup on something else.

My Preferred barrels shoot pretty dang good. My 6 UM barrel is a little slow though.
But they're 1.25 moa all day for 10 if I do my part lol. Have one on my trainer in 223 AI and the UM. Another 22 creed on standby for my kids Sig.

I'd rather have benchmark but good luck finding one and getting it chambered etc in a timely manner.

Honestly they're probably one of the best values for barrels. And I see they've got a two week lead time.

For hunting...pbb. cheaper and lighter.

My 25 prc 23.25" hybrid light helical fluted was 2#5oz.

Shoots great. Did really well at NRLs with it. (Also probably killed it shooting NRLs, its replacement is already here!)

Out of curiosity how many shots did it take to kill it?

It was at about 700. Its not dead dead. But it started dropping off in velocity, couldve been rushed reloads but that last NRL shoot it chrono'd at 2985 when it shouldve been 3050. I shot it since and had one drop to 2850 from 3020 nominal. Rifling looked ok with my eyeballs. I went ahead and pulled it last night tho. Gonna get the long dong installed and send some at mach jesus and evaluate its use for the NRL finale if i qualify... (26" with a longer freebore, .810 taperless this time).

I may put the ol one back on for hunting season to save a pound.
