PBB Helical 1-12 Fluting

Does anyone have a helical flute? I’m curious how Preferred’s new “Helical 1-12” fluting looks… Thanks!

Maybe? Lol. Just trying to visualize the difference between what they’re calling helical vs spherical. Maybe it’s even a “gain twist” type of fluting? Guess I’m calling tomorrow.

The names of the particular flutes can certainly vary between the providers. Good Luck!

FWIW the fluting I posted is called "TAC 8" by the guy that did it. He does a TAC 6 with 6 flutes.

Update: PBB sent me pictures.

They look a tad more aggressive than their normal spiral flutes. May shave a bit more wieght off? Thanks for the pics.

That's the idea. The Pro-Precision one I posted above comes in lighter than a less aggressive, less deep helical. I don't recall how much more weight was removed on my last one.

I have their 1:8 and 1 in 16. The new helical is quite a bit different.

I’m sure it’ll be light. I have a 1 in 8 spiral fluted 24 inch hybrid lite 280 AI from them and I was shocked how light it was.

The hope was to drop some weight over the factory lite 24.3" 300 mag. But with the smaller hole who knows. As long as it's not heavier! But it should shoot well enough that I can shoot a long ways and carry it a short ways

Not sure if this helps or not but Bryce sent me the weights of 4 different contours with the 1 in 12 helical. Definitely cuts a lot of weight.
