The forest service stay limit thread got me thinking, and I have yet to find a clear answer from my digging online. We are headed out in a couple weeks for archery elk in MT. After our scouting trip over Labor Day weekend, we're thinking the plan will be to park our pickups with trailers just off of a main gravel road on BLM land and then load up our side x sides with our gear and drive in on a crappy 2-track about 10 miles from there to park the Rangers and hike in a little ways to set up camp. Our plan is to be there anywhere from 5-9 days, although probably not all in the same spot. We'll likely run back to the trucks at least once or twice to check on coolers, refill on water/food, etc...
As long as we're not damaging any vegetation and just pulling off the road onto a dirt spot, I'm hoping it's ok to leave our vehicles there for a few days at a time? I wouldn't be at all surprised if there's already other trucks parked in the spot we're thinking of, knowing the reputation of hunting pressure in this area. But don't want to come back after 4 days chasing elk to find that our trucks got towed by BLM or something dumb like that...
