Hey everyone,

I think I have an answer to this already but I want to bounce it off you in case there’s something I’m missing:

I have a new NF ATACR 5-25 and as I’ve been getting it set up, I notice that the number on my parallax dial differs GREATLY from the actual distance of the target. For example: I have a target at my house that is 340m away. For the target to be crisp (and all parallax eliminated) my parallax knob is set to just under “150.”

A couple notes:
- I was meticulous in setting my diopter and I am confident I have done so correctly.
- for any given target/distance, I can adjust my parallax knob so that the target is clear and there is no perceptible parallax.

Have any of you had the same experience where the distances on your parallax knob are so wildly different than the true distance? It seems like this situation is not really an issue for me being that I can always have a clearly focused target without parallax, but to be honest it just bugs me a bit.

I’m excited to hear everyone’s feedback and appreciate your response!

- Logan

Very common on the ATACR line especially. I had a 4-16 that was wildly off as well. Really bugged me. Called NF and they said that’s normal. It’s also normal for it to fluctuate some with environmental conditions. But the ATACR does seem wildly off. I even have a cheap Vortec Venom that more spot on.

I have a NX8 now that I much prefer. It just has hash marks on the parallax knob and I’ve just written on it with paint pen to mark distances in my environment.

Yup common on NF. Every S&B and ZCO I’ve had matched almost perfectly so it can be done. As others said it really doesn’t matter but I do like it for competing. I’ll preset my parallax to the yardage the highest percentage of the points I expect to get to save time on the clock when I know it aligns. Hunting I often adjust based off the distance to a cut or a ridge as I’m moving as well and I like it but not a deal breaker.
