Pants a little snug or a little loose?

Strange question, but I got a brand new pair of Sitka Mountain pants, and I would say they fit just perfectly when wearing them alone. My concern is when I try them on with my base layer, they are a little snug, and plenty snug when I tuck my shirt in.

I have a pair of Ascent pants that are the next size (2") larger, and they are a little loose. When I have a base layer on and shirt tucked in, there is still a little wiggle room, but they aren't like falling off me or anything. I also typically wear suspenders, and the Mountain pants have a built in belt.

I'm concerned that pants that are a little loose are going to be annoying when carrying a pack and stuff.

Anyone have any advice for me? Do they stretch out a little after wearing them for a bit like jeans do? I will probably try wearing them around the house for the next couple days and see what I think.

They won't stretch at all. I don't like the athletic fit. I prefer them a little loose so I always size up. In Kryptek I buy 2 sizes up. I haven't had any issues when carrying a pack with them fitting loose.

I used to like my pants and shirts really loose. Over time I have gone to tighter fitting pants which I now prefer but ended up in the middle on top. Fit is just snug enough that shirts don't hang off bit not like under armor either. The pants aren't far off from women's yoga pants tight but they move with you and I make less noise from pants catching on things.

I like tight fitting hunting clothes. Baggy stuff gets in the way and makes more noise and snags on things.

I should mention that the rest of the pants fit perfectly. I love the way that Sitka fits me - not baggy or excess anywhere, but not restricting at all either.

Just unsure if I'm going to get annoyed with the waist an inch or two loose, but I suppose with a belt and suspenders, there shouldnt be a problem at all.

Like I mentioned, I'll probably wear them around the house for a couple days and see what I think.

I like my hunting pants to fit like, well.........normal pants. Can't stand the skinny jean revolution, or skinny stretchy hunting pant revolution. Yoga pants are for good looking women.........period.

if it restricts movement, its too tight. if it doesn't restrict movement then its fine. Pants a little too loose can cause problems with my waist belt on my pack, bunching up and creating hot spots.

Both sizes of pants fit great in the legs and dont restrict movement at all, so its not like the smaller pair are "skinny jeans" or anything like that, its just the waist that I am worried about. When I put the 34s on, they don't feel like I have to "suck it in", but they are a little tighter than I would wear a belt - meaning the belt on them really does absolutely nothing because I wear the belt looser than the pants already are.

I decided Im going to send the 34s back and get the 36s. With a belt on, although still a little loose, the 36s fit comfortably and don't fall off my waist at all. That way I don't have to worry about them being a little too tight when I put a base layer on under it.

Thanks for the help once again guys.

For me, anything that is tight in the waist now, won't even stay up without a belt by the end of Sept.:) In some of my belts I've had to make new holes to get them tighter as the season goes on.

Any of you guys use like Kelvin Lite pants or the Kuiu Super down pant for insulation? Curious how much waist those take up if you wear them under your pants?

The only base I tried my pants on with were thin merino wool pants, which have a pretty thin waistband..

For a rain shell, i got the XL instead of Large Sitka pants. Suspenders work their job. I figure with shells being the outer, order up a size. The jacket I actually kept large. We shall see how it works. The XL is biiig!! And really makes my A** look big, so it depresses me if i think and look to much :)
