Hey folks, i was recently out on a 9-day packrafting trip in NW Alaska using my PR-49.

Was sporting some new Kryptek gear and my trusty ol' Simms waders. Aron said he dropped a little scent bomb in my Timberline pack before he mailed it to me, so maybe that explains why a caribou tried to nurse on my teets.

Check it out, here's the link to youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Msb96t4E74&feature=youtu.be

Here's the link to our PR-49 thread on the PV forum:

Taking an animals life is by far the most primal of things we as humans are capable of. It's written in code, our DNA. Killing is a dirty business and I know you've had many a time behind the scope.

However your video also portrays another very important aspect of mankind, our ability to be compassionate towards a species that under a different sky we would set free.

Just as one day I've stood behind the rifle against a predator, and on another I'd risk my life to save its young.

Well done, Mr Bartlett. A true rarity in nature and a gifting experience at that.

Well done.

Was kind of hoping to see u rafting away with that calf in the boat

Interfering with game can be a tough line to walk. In suburbia if a moose gets hit, the state may intervene and rescue the young. Generally they go to the conservation center and eventually a zoo.

But in the boondocks it's another story. Public eye and perception is a biggie up here. Generally when a hunter is debuted on the news, it ain't good. Smart move for Larry to cast the calf coming to him from the start.

You know, i seriously considered the leash and float option for a bit, but then i considered the bush flight back to Kotz and wondered what the pilot would have thought about those sharp little hooves freakin the F out in the plane unrestrained....had disaster written all over that plan, so I opted to leave it be. Would have made some sick vid though, fo sho.
