Classic trout in either a 4 or 6 piece with a Redington zero is a pretty hard combo to beat for it's price/weight. I would love a sage click for a backpacking reel but I keep coming back to the zero as it's basically the same price as a click for a fraction of the weight. Outside of your rod and reel, you can easily get your fishing equipment under 4-5 ounces if you don't add in waders/boots/net. I'll try to throw up a list of what I carry. I'll also echo the tenkara recommendation. A tenkara rods sneaks it's way into my pack on about every trip, but if I'm planning to fish I bring the fly rod. Nothing worse than wishing you had 10 more feet of reach with the tenkara rod.

Since we are talking lines as well, I would go with an SA Creek trout or infinity depending on your use. I love the MPX but the Infinity is a little more well rounded trout line, IMO.
