Has anybody found a really light, packable chair that they like? I have a Thermarest Neoair Xlite so I could go the route of the thermarest chair kit but it just seems like it could be hard on such an expensive pad.

So any ultra lite chairs out there that are tried and true?

Thanks,

Drew

There is a comparison of the rei chair and the Helinox. The Helinox was a little wider and I think the back was more comfy.

I have used the Alite Mantis chair for 2 years now and still like it a lot. A couple of the things that I really like is the high back that it has, you can really kick back and relax and you can comfortably sit up while you eat. I believe the my chair weighs 1.89lbs which is a little heavy but it sure is nice when you've busted it all day.

I packed two of the REI chairs on a motorcycle trip to watch a MotoGP race. Sat in them for a total of 4 hours or so, they pack up tiny and were super comfortable.

That's a great find!

The Helinox/REI/Alite are very comfortable but pretty spendy. I have used a thermarest chair kit for years, but with a prolite3 pad. Never had any wear issues with the pad, but sometimes it's tough to get it sitting right.

I've used a Helinox Ground Chair for all day glassing sessions and would recommend it.

I like REI's trail chairs. Haven't actually brought myself to pack one on a serious hunt though. I always convince myself to drop the weight - can't tell if for better or worse.

I use the REI chair as well. Definitely worth its weight for me at the end of a long day. The legs digging into soft ground are annoying though.

I've got the Helinox and have been very happy with it. It is comfortable and plenty big. If I were going to lighten my pack it would go in the no question I'm taking it along pile.

That's what I like to hear. I'm can't stand sitting cross legged trying to eat a mountain house at the end of the day when you're in a spot with no logs or rocks to sit on. I'll be looking into the Helinox.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

You could put me in a spot with a multitude of logs and rocks and my Helinox will stay in the no question I'm taking it pile.

I'm piling on with the Helinox chair. When I'm huffing and puffing up the mountain I sometimes question my taking it but as soon as I sit down and stretch out I'm sure it was worth it. I'm 6'4" and 260 so it will hold a lot of weight too.

Helinox rocks! The best chair for a big guy like me. tall enough to shoot a bow from, short enough to be stealthy.
