I've been reading reviews on packs, and sort of have it narrowed down to 2. But which pack in this range would be best to haul the rifle around with as well? I have the Eberlestock X1 with rifle scabbard and love it, but need more pack.

Right now, looking at Stone Glacier 3300 or Mystery Ranch Cabinet.

Looking for a day/multi day pack with some meat hauling capacity (primarily mule deer).

The stone glacier 3300 is a great pack for 3-4 days, it has a good meat shelf that lets you haul meat. Their gun carrier set up is simple
And low profile. I enjoy the SG 3300.

in my opinion..carrying a rifle (or bow) is the bare minimum requirement to even be called a hunting pack.

i ran my little .22lr rifle in my MysteryRanch pack. i ran it down the side and it was pretty awesome. ( i had fishing gear on the other side.)

I have an Eberlestock X1A1 euro. It is absolutely wonderful for rifle carry. It sucks for carrying anything of weight. I'd stick with either one of your picks and buy Kifaru's gun bearer.

Or do like I did and buy a kifaru frame and then troll the classifieds for a Kifaru Mountain Rambler. It's a discontinued bag that has a built-in scabbard.

A Cabinet pack is a good pack for day hunts or occasions where you plan, or prepare, to stay out one night on a hunt. The universal Kifaru gun bearer works on those. Theres plenty of straps and buckles on a mystery ranch bag to cinch a rifle tight on back if its just hands free pack out thats important.

Do you want to be able to pull your rifle out without dropping your pack? If so than I would go with an Eberlestock G4 Operator or maybe a similar pack from the tactical line. If not than either you listed would work great. On my kifaru I wound up running a medium pocket low on the bag to put the rifle but in and use compression straps on the barrel. I use an X3 Lowdrag for most of my day trips, can handle a chassis rifle with large optics. Just not as comfortable with weight in it

I am not that familiar with the SG/MR, but on my Mainframe and also my Nomad 2 I can attach an Eberle scabbard directly to molle on the pack between the wings or can improvise a way to attach a scabbard directly to the frame. I've attached a Eberle scabbard to many different packs over the years and know the molle on the scabbard is pretty tough and can withstand some creative lashing techniques (strong zipties usually). That might be a way to have the pack you want but the scabbard you are used to? Is there a way to fit/lash/ziptie an external scabbard between the pack and the frame on SG/MR?

The Stone Glacier rifle sling is simple and it works. In conjunction with a SG pack, it is nearly a perfect rifle carry scenario IMO. Immediate access to the rifle and carries it out of the way. Kifaru also has a "universal" rifle sling that works good, but the rifle carries under your arm with the barrel out front. (not my favorite way to carry the rifle)

If you don't want immediate access almost all packs allow you to strap a rifle to them one way or another.

The Cabinet is a great pack, and I would consider pairing it with the MR Rifle Sling.

That sling system gives you the option to run it as a regular sling, or go hands free but still have instant access to the rifle when you need it. And it is easy to re-attach without having to take the pack off each time. For me, that feature, plus having hands free, yet fast access makes it something to seriously consider. It works best with MR packs on a Guide Light frame (like the Cabinet, Metcalf, etc.) to securely hold the rifle stock capture piece.

Just my two cents.

I ended up going with the SG Solo 3300. I talked to a few people that had experience with this pack. Looking forward to it - thank you for the responses!

Not the Solo, but the R3 3300 with lid is one of the bags we use heavily. Probably the most versatile pack from day use to multi day that I’ve used. And I’ve used a few packs-
