Hey guys looking for some feedback on pack weight for a 4-5 day hunt backcountry. Right now I'm sitting at 46lbs, without my bow on. Any packing tips or input would be great thanks.

You can search the forum and get some good idea's about
where you should be. Lots of variables. Are you including water?

Your looking good if that’s food, water and everything else. Right in there for comfort vs lightweight. There’s ultra light guys that’ll tell you to get lighter but you are going to sacrifice some comfort. Also asking for tips without providing your gear list makes it hard to give feedback.

I just spent 2 days out and I was at 36 lbs with cold weather bag and puffy. 45lbs sounds reasonable for added food. I try not to skimp there because I love to eat while hunting.

I got back today from a 2-day hunt/fish getaway. 58 pounds with rifle and beer. About 30 pounds more than I needed, but was testing a bunch of gear.

Most guys bring way too much stuff their first time out! Don't forget riflle, shells, water...the list goes on and adds up quickly!

A lot can change depending on if you are doing a true "bivy" style or spike camp hunt. The learning curve is super high if you are trying a bivy hunt

I’m about where you are at 45-50 depending on time of year. I’m about 13-16 on a day trip

Guilty as charged your honor. 😂

72# first trip. Yes sir, you read that correctly. Have to give props to the old Dana Designs pack I was schlepping. It looked like Fred Sanford and the Beverly Hill Billies got together for a hunt.

Holy crap.

You know it’s bad when you make one trip in and two trips out....and no meat to carry. Not to mention that within 50 yards of my truck going in, I buried my right leg in mud, up to my knee, while crossing a creek.

It sucked sooo bad.

Make
This ^

Provide a full list of gear with weights and maybe explain the area and season you’re hunting and these guys will get you dialed in.

Welcome. Make this list. Check it twice for crap you don’t think you will need. Leave that stuff home. When you get home Check it again for crap you didn’t use. Leave that crap at home next time. Rinse and repeat.
