Well - I don't mean to thread hi-jack, but here's an update for those looking for pack pistol holster ideas... as I said earlier, I'm committed to carrying around this hogleg - Taurus Raging Bull .44 mag, but needed a dedicated pack holster that was light weight, didn't let the gun flop around, and didn't get in my way of hinder my mobility in the back country. I stumbled onto a kydex custom holster maker out of Oklahoma (RCcustomKydex01 - ebay), and after a little back and forth, he built me a great holster to meet my needs, and for a fair price. Service was great!

Here are some pics of the holster attached to an Exo Mountain Gear 3500. I also installed an Exo belt pouch on the lower section of the holster, which for the first time ever allows me to use some belt space for something more than just my pistol. Makes it seem like I'm not even carrying a 52 ounce revolver (sort of). Everything seems very secure, and I have full range of motion. Can't wait to test it out on some North Idaho shed hunts soon!

I run the wilderness tactical. Put some DWR on it and was in 3 days straight downpour and the glock was dry. I sewed on a "Cannon" patch and now all the bunny huggers I pass on the trail just think it's my digi camera case but it's really a hand cannon. After seeing a 175lb mountain lion at 20 yards hunting alone in Cali I never go out bow hunting without it. Holds an extra magazine and is pretty much bomb proof.
Just an FYI it is illegal to bowhunt in CA with a pistol.

El Paso Saddlery Tanker Holster. Fits snug against your chest, and does not interfere with a pack. Also stays on your body when you remove your pack. Great fly fishing or archery hunting setup.

There was some legislation that was supposed to go through that if you have a ccw that would make it legal to carry during archery. Not sure if it went through. With all the grows in many parts of this state I would say you are a complete retard not to carry. Even though I would be way more afraid of me with a bow than a pistol. Haha

Someone else posted up these a while back - looked good and priced right so I figured it was worth a try.

Fit and finish aren't perfect but completely functional. Really like how simple the design is and easy to install. Only had it out a couple times so far but it's comfy on the belt (no pressure points) and holds my G20 nice and tight against my side. I can even still run a belt pouch over the holster. Will try to post some pictures after bit.
