I will defer to my master trip food prepper, my wife, as she handles all things that is packing for food for trips. I just occasionally boil the water for freeze dried dinners while we are out.

Luke Moffat...I have enjoyed the blogs and stories of you and your wife's hunts. You are blessed to have your mate walk the hills with you. I am curious on your food kit for a 10 day backpacking hunt? I'm keeping my calorie intake per day around 2000 cals. Breakfast and dinners are routine, but really curious what you take for lunch (not just Luke, all y'all).

Not much had changed for us since then, although I am making an effort to eat less highly processed food when we can. We really aren't lunch eaters in the field, although sometimes in cold or wet weather we will heat some water midday and split a package of mashed potatoes with tuna fish or chicken (from a foil pouch) stirred in. Otherwise we tend to snack every two or three hours, approx 200-300 calories per snack.

Thanks, I perused your past thread and it was helpful. One thing I've done is use straws for a variety of spices, olive oil, and worchester. Seal the bottom with a lighter, fill it up, and seal the top with lighter and leatherman. Just snip it when you need it, then reseal. That way you can have a variety with little weight. A must have for the bland MH meals!

I really don't know what kind of terrain you are hunting, but is there even wood to burn in that tent stove? I don't typically associate sheep hunting with timber but what do I know...maybe that wood stove is worth it's weight in gold?
