EMR2 is a fantastic bag though take my opinion with a grain of salt as Luke probably packed out more critters last year than I will in the next 10.

Luke, in your pictures it looks like the bag/pack is compressed and the meat is packed and strapped over and on the outside of the bag. Is this correct? Fatrascal.

That is correct. When I am just hauling meat or meat and minimal gear the packbag itself gets compressed with usually minimal day hunt gear and puffy coats and such in the bottom of the main zippered bag to make a bit of a meat shelf. The meat and/or hide get laid on top of the packbag and above the dayhunt gear in the main zippered bag and compressed down tight to the frame to keep the weight as close to my back as possible. Works well and much faster and cleaner than loading heavy meat sacks in and out of the top opening on standard packs. But when hauling camping for 7 days AND meat and hide generally the meat going on top of the sleeping gear again to make a meat shelf and then the meat this time inside the packbag to again keep the meat weight as close to me as possible. Then the rest of the gear gets put in pockets, top lid, or strapped somewhere to the outside if I dont' have anymore room.

Which is why the EMR 2 is everything the Nomad wishes it could be. I never see a time when I don't want that center zip packbag along. If day hunting or scouting I am taking a different pack all together as I don't need a 5-7 pound kifaru pack to day hunt or scout for a week with normal pack loads of 40-60 pounds. But if backpack huntign I always want a REAL pack that I can haul everything I want or strap anything to the outside that I want without getting all tacticool and adding a bunch of silly pockets everywhere. Been down that road and its more weight, money, and trouble than its worth. ;)

Also. It looks like the EMRII is going to be part of the 15% off Father's Day sale. A great time to pick one up.

Well, the main advantage is looking cool. Looking cool trumps function. pretty sure that's science and you just can't argue with science. 😜
