Anybody have experience with an ozone generator and the idea that it could be detrimental to your gear. I like the idea if total scent elimination but not that it could potentially ruin my stuff.

I actually just bought an O3 generator yesterday off of Amazon for this reason. I was reading quite a bit about it before I purchased it. I never came across anything that said it could be damaging to clothing, but I'm going to look into it now that you bring it up! I dropped $600+ on first lite gear this year! Everytime I browse their website I hear a little voice saying "take my money!"

Ozone can damage / degrade certain fabrics and rubbers. I think the main problem is with rubber and elastic bands (waist, wrists, etc.) Best advice is to treat, but not over-treat.

Also, I think this can be beneficial for tree stand / whitetail hunting. Don't bother whatsoever for any western / spot and stalk or more active hunting.

THIS^^^^ the whitetail fanatics that I know can't ozone certain things due to it degrading their equipment. Bows, rubber or anything with elastic off the top of my head which is actually alot of hunting itmes.

That pretty well takes care of everything I would want to treat. I'll have to read into it some more. Ozonics says that a controlled treatment will not damage gear.

Scent crusher bag destroyed a guys sitka gear that i know of. The elastic suspenders were toast.

Otherwise, i know the SC bag works!! We put a couple of rotten shirts, some nasty socks and underwear to the test on an elk hunt a couple years ago. Came out after 20 mins smelling like Ozone. Hung on a limb for an hour and couldnt smell a thing!! I would never buy an ozonics for tree stand but those scent crusher bags work like a champ!

I think the key to any of this ozone stuff is to treat but not over treat, I own the scent crusher bag because I am primarily a white tail hunter (read flat lander). I have done 10 minute cycles every couple days for 2 seasons now and haven’t had any issue with degrading, this leads me to believe that there can be too much of a good thing!

Amazon.com: Robolife Ozone Generator Air Purifier Disinfector Air Water Sterilizer Fruits Vegetables Sterilization Ozonator: Home & Kitchen

Here is a generator that I've got a line on that seems like it might work. Looks really similar to the one that scent crusher uses in their products. It has a timer so that should make it easy to control.

I think that will definitely work, but imo its overkill for a tote. Also from what I've looked at (and I think I read the reviews on every model Amazon has to offer...), they all have a 60 minute max timer. That one you are looking at says 500mg/h, or enough for a smallish room. The one I got is 400mg/h, which is probably still overkill for a tote, but I'm putting mine in a closet. I actually had the one you linked in the shopping cart and last minute I found the one I ended up with. Its $10 cheaper and I think (hope) it does the job. I'm also a flat lander that hunts pressured whitetails primarily.

I'm not sure if you saw this little rechargeable unit they got, advertised specifically for putting in a tote/bag for hunting, but reviews look good.

It's all white tails for here in Virginia a d the time is drawing near. A guy I know turned me on to this idea. I've got about twenty five days of hunting planned for Oct and Nov for white tails and need something better for scent control. I used and easy two gallons of spray on product last year and I'm very interested in this idea.

I worked with ozone generators in restoration of homes and equipment. So short blasts of ozone (less than 48 hrs) usually won't hurt anything other than it needs to be confined and should not be inhaled for long periods by humans/animals. So if you have to do it in a closed space that you can vent or open a window to when your done. Garage in a container would be good if you can seal the container. It will eat rubber, plastics, elastics, foam, etc over long periods. So if you want to treat something just do it for a short period. Doing it over and over on say rubber boots will eat them up. To try an sum up long term exposure on rubber, have you seen a rubber basketball that was left outside for months or years? When it looks all dried up, with cracks and veins running thru it, thats what over-exposure to ozone can look like, I have also seen it turn a piece of rubber into goo. I t will get rid of odor by destroying the molecule that make up the odor, so its very effective. I would hate to put a pair of Sitka bibs in it and have it eat out the knees.

Maybe try to hang the suspenders outside of the bin so the ozone doesnt get to it. I've ruined many pairs of undies waste bands. And I only use in bursts of 10 min

Been using the Ozone generators for many many years.
The treat, but don't over treat advise above is very true.

From experience, it works Great, in the woods!
The downside, hunting boots will crack and break and anything rubber or elastic will begin to disintegrate. Not noticeable right away, it will be years, but it will happen for sure.

Now, I run mine on a timer (no more than 1 hour) with a circulating fan, in a dedicated spare bedroom, all clothes on a hanger so air can move around it well.

I bought the Enerzen Commercial Ozone Generator 6,000mg from Amazon for around $65 and had it shipped to my inlaws in Oregon, since California has banned them. Ozonics is a ripoff compared to the Enerzen or any regular ozone machine on amazon. From what I gather, it's just a fan blowing over a spark.

I have used it in my Jumping Jack Trailer Tent with hunt clothes hanging inside for about 20 minutes. I have avoided over treating and so far no impact to rubber on my boots or elastics. You will not be disappointed.

I use a Uhaul moving box for hanging clothes. Put Ozone generator inside the box and run for the desired amount of time. I have run stuff overnight with Ozonics on low and never had a problem with anything being degraded including rubber and elastic items. I don't however put my bow in the "gas chamber"....

I have a small ozone generator, I will put all my hunting clothes and pack into a scent-lok bag and have the generator run for one hour (shortest timed option on my unit).

I have put bloody/stinky/camp fire clothes into that bag with the generator and an hour later, all the smell is gone.

We have an ozone change room at whitetail camp. Have it mounted up near the ceiling and keep in running 24/7 during season.

No issues with clothing or boots so far, been going for 4 years.
