Over 80................?

So how many of us hit the 80 mark and still deer hunt, I'm down to going out mostly on dry days, I don't mind the cold or the wind but I like dry weather now!

I've posted this before, but my friend in Maryland hunted aoudad and brown bear with me in 2023. We celebrated his 84th birthday in Anchorage after we got our bears. In 2022 he drew a Wyo. bighorn tag and rode horseback 24 miles into the wilderness to tag his sheep. Last year he drew an AZ. desert bighorn tag after 34 years of applying and took a nice ram at 86! This year he's booked for an elk hunt here in Wyo. and last I talked to him, he was working on a trip to Africa for sable and nyala! He turns 87 next month.

I’m only 67 but last year took an 81 year old friend to Zimbabwe for his 2nd Cape buffalo hunt after he took his 1st buffalo on a Tanzania hunt with me when he was 79. He did great and shot a fantastic buffalo last year on the Savé Valley Conservancy. He also shot a 360 class bull in Utah, which is one of his biggest elk ever. He had a heck of a year for an 81 year old.

Unfortunately, he’s showing early signs of dementia and we had to drop plans for him to go back to Africa again this year. I’m glad he finished on a high note last year.
