Outside Online Back Pack Tax Article

PR funds, duck stamp etc not sure would be classified as wasteful. They do not go to general funds, they are "lock boxed" dedicated funds. The uses of PR monies is tightly controlled and monitored. I've seen the audits and what is allowed and isn't. One good thing is PR monies can now be used for shooting ranges etc.

I view dedicated funding as an investment for the now and the future of the outdoors and wild spaces.

I have no idea how anyone can seriously be considering the idea of a new tax right now. When our govt has money for gender study programs in Pakistan, then they don't need more of our money. The issue is the politicians have no accountability and they're lining their pockets with their pet projects/side deals (pork) for govt contracts, and we are allowing it. More taxes? Wow!

On our NF around where I live, horseback riding is a popular thing. Roads are mostly dirt or gravel and are generally in terrible shape. I used to think someone should figure out a way where everyone using roads in NF would pay a fee, and those monies be used for upkeep of the roads. Not so much anymore. It's not necessarily because it would give anyone more of voice - the reality is, whoever squeals the loudest has the loudest voice, whether they should or not. My position now is simply that we don't need more taxes or bigger government, especially given my confidence that they'd just screw it up anyway.

Let's not forgot that while only 4% of people make up hunters, the P-R tax is on ALL firearms (10% on pistols and revolvers and 11% on rifles/shotguns, archery and ammo).

The dirty little secret is that all those pew pew gun nut hoarding AR-15-totin' tactical folx are putting one hell of a lot of money into the P-R.

I'd like to see Land and BHA recognize the massive $$ contributions of his fellow non-hunting, but gun-friendly conservationists.
That would go against that radical nut job Tawney's hatred of firearms.
