I am wanting to do a Moose hunt in 2015 or 2016. Looking at Northern Alberta or BC. I would like to do it with archery and maybe a combo hunt possibilities. Would like to do back country, maybe cabin. ( Not looking for a 5 star resort feel ). If anyone has any recommendations for outfitters I would appreciate it. Thanks

I had a great hunt with Elk Valley Bighorn Outfitters in extreme SE BC year before last and am going back next year. We killed my bull out of a back country cabin acessed by a very reasonable horseback ride. The moose they have there are Shiras (considered as such by SCI but not B&C or P&Y) and although they are smaller in body you have a shot at a 50" bull (mine was 45" or 46").

Edit: I should add the main reason I went there is it is driveable in a (really, really long) day from central CA, and I was able to bring all the meat home - it is excellent.

You need to help us help you: Expectations of trophy size? Combo with what? Horseback or backpack? Are you going to be driving rather than flying? Budget? Lots of good moose outfitters in Northern BC and Alberta, just need to know what you are looking for and willing to spend.

I am not stuck on having to have a record book bull. This will be my first moose hunt and I'd like to do it with a bow so to me any bull would be a trophy. I am planning on driving because I don't want to be limited to what I take on a plane and I'm hoping to bring my trophy home with me... I am open to backpacking or horseback. I am hoping to find a place where I can hunt 10-14 days. I want the extra time in case weather gets bad. I am hoping somewhere between that $6500 to $9000 price tag. I got some info from a few Alberta Outfitters. I would like to combo with a deer (whitetail or muley) but not opposed to elk or bear. This is going to be my 50th Bday present.

Talk to Trent packham at groat creek outfitters in Whitecourt alberta. Great guy who got me my first bear and works his ass off for his clients.
