Outer vest layer

I’m wanting to put a vest into clothing set up but can not ever become happy with one. I’ve literally owned several from multiple companies. I’ve always tried it for a mid layer. I’ve thought in a situation that weight and timing and temperature would merit one. My normal set up for tops is fuse/kiln, Klamath, brooks down and catalyst jacket until it’s teens. Then the brooks gets swapped for chamberlain and catalyst goes under. I was thinking some situations could call for a vest like the axis vest. Any suggestions I’d appreciate. Even the one not to worry about a vest

Following. Been considering adding a vest as well. Stuck between an outer vest or going with more of a puffy style insulating vest. Any advice would be helpful.

I just grabbed a solitude vest on sale. Been just trying it on with different layers. Seems like it will work out well.

My WM flight series vest is nice, stuffs in a cargo pocket. A light softshell over it to keep the heat in and protect the down garment.
