I ran the Outdoor Vitals StormLoft quilt all hunting season and it flat-out earned a spot in my pack. The weight and packability were the biggest wins for me — it packs down small and disappears in the pack, which matters when you’re counting ounces on longer hunts.
Build quality is solid. Stitching, materials, and overall feel all held up through regular use in real conditions. I was honestly skeptical about the open-bottom quilt design at first. I’ve always been a mummy bag guy. But after a full season, I actually prefer the quilt now. It’s more versatile and easier to regulate temperature.
When I needed extra warmth, I just threw on my puffy pants and jacket and slept comfortably. That flexibility ended up being a big advantage. Overall, lighter, more adaptable, and more comfortable than I expected — I won’t be going back to a traditional mummy bag anytime soon.
