Sliders,

Looking to see who has actual time in the rain, hiking, hunting and time inside the Foray set from OR. I have the chugach set from Kuiu but was seeing what real world weight of the OR set is compared. I realize they are 2 layer vs 3 layer. But I use a lot of camera gear and ounces matter.

Any help is appreciated. What you like, don’t like and constructive opinions!

Thanks.

I have ran the Foray the last 3 years or so. It does fine for western type of precip. Day on day of rain it will wet out, especially around shoulders when using a pack. What I do like is the pit zips. They are huge and allow great airflow. Overall for the price it is a decent jacket.

I had the pants only, because I loved that they come in earth tone colors. They are light, they will wet out after a heavy day, but they also dry quickly. I was pretty happy with them but I fell and tore the whole leg out. They are not heavy duty. I always wore my gators over the top unless i was walking on trail only. I would have bought them again, but I am a wet OR hunter and wanted to step up to a high end 3 layer system.

I have to say I hear a lot of stories of guys throwing their rain gear off and stuffing it in a bag when the rain stops. I will wear it after the sun comes out and walk it dry or substantially so before taking it off. Most of the time I would just wear these Foray pants all day and just push the side zips down a ways to let them breath a bit more.
