Thought I’d share some pics of what I ended up doing for a workshop and gear storage solution. I’ve spent the last 5 months working on this and have finally got to a point where it’s functional, so here we go!

Like many of you, I am a gear whore and absolute fanatic about anything outdoors. As such, I’ve accumulated a lot of gear over the years. As the years progress I’ve stashed stuff in closets, garages, and worked on projects at the kitchen table or kitchen island. My wife was not a fan. Recently, we had a need to add a 1bed/1bath apartment to our home for her parents. While I was at it, I tacked an office/workspace and a garage onto the original idea. I ended up with what you see here: 750 sqft apartment, 780 sqft office space, and what essentially amounts to a three car garage.

I wanted to do built in everything. I wanted built in shelving that I could adapt for my own needs with Tupperware storage bins. I wanted a French cleat rack for miscellaneous gear and firearms, and I wanted a way to store ammo and reloading supplies without having it all crammed. I also wanted work bench space… more than I needed. Lastly, I wanted a place to continue podcasting, which I’ve done as a hobby for a while now.

Super happy with the result, and I’m happy to answer any questions about it. I still have some work to do .. I need to put in tool boxes and air compressors and such. But I’m getting there. For now, I’m happy with the HVAC and electricity and plumbing!

Organized is good.

FYI, Those columns next to your pool are potential trouble if you have kids......especially the one near the Baja shelf. So many kids break their necks diving from an elevated spot into shallow water.
