Oregon Turkey

Anyone hunted turkey in the Applegate Unit on public land? I'm in the game for a DIY hunt on public land and I've been researching this unit. Also willing to go to Eastern Oregon, but wanted to see if anyone has had luck in the Southwest part of the state on public. Anything helps!

Had not hunted that unit. But know the adjoining Rogue and Evans Creek units usually are top picks. Am sure there are some in the Applegate too. You might check the new ODFW private land reservation program for Turkeys, may be some reservation opportunities in that area.

Worked near there a couple years ago, looked like a solid amount of birds. I live in E OR now so we have no shortage of turkeys. I agree with the above comment, check out the ODFW program.

No experience in Applegate but in Melrose unit, just knocking on doors has been very good to me. I would look at the ODFW program as well.
