Oregon spring bear results are out

Any other comments on NE areas in regards to green up happening earlier this year in general.
I’m thinking of making a trip out soon.

I am going out tonight in the SW unit. At work I've seen one pile of grassy bear scat. Probably won't see anything but at least I'll be hunting!

Update: didn't see any bears on my camera at this spot, any sign, or any bears in the flesh

Went out this morning. No snow at all.
Not a lot of feed yet, some tho.
No bear sightings this am.
Wind is blowing. Makes it tuff.

Saw a yearling bear today munching some grass in the coast range. They are definitely out and about.

I will be heading over there the 14th for the turkey opener

Lots of green up in all eastern Oregon besides Wallowa apparently. We hardy got any snow on the other side of the mountain. Bears have been out for a few weeks. Should be an easy year to fill a tag with all the access, lots of turkeys out too, plan on hitting the youth opener Sunday.

Normally I would have needed tracks to get to this area, this year there is zero snow, none even on the north face timber.

Any reports on snake river unit green up? Thinking of going out the 13-19th but cold temps have me nervous the bears won’t be out

Went out in the indigo unit today. Did a bunch of driving and hiking. I checked out some drainages which were full of bright green grass. I did not see a single track, scat, or any sign of bear activity.

Just got back from there and its green up to about 5500ft with no snow but not a lot of bears out compared to normal from what i saw only younger bears maybe last years cubs is all I saw. Im sure they are there just needed more time. Going back up later in the month.

We hit the SW last weekend. It was pretty rough. We covered lots of ground hiking and driving and saw 5 piles of poop and 2 sets of tracks in 3 days and one set was a week old plus. Very little sign of feeding. With the timber company I’ve hunted on in the past being closed due to new ownership this may be a rough season finding new spots. We wound up having a heeler sized bear run across the road on our way home Sunday afternoon. But other than that it was a pretty hard to keep my girlfriend encouraged.

Ive been out a few times in the NE. Saw 10 bears so far. Still slow. Weather is sporadic. Saw 7 my last trip out. One was a blonde sow with 3 cubs. That pads the stats a little. Going again this weekend but weather looks nasty

As far as green up goes I guess that's a subjective opinion. The arrow leaf balsam root (yellow flowers) is just barely starting to bloom and not much wild onion yet. So yes there's green stuff growing on the hillsides but still has a long ways to go until its fully "greened up".
