Oregon Residents! Who is celebrating and who is crying? Me? I'm just confused.

I'm curious to know who got their dream hunt this year? How many points to make it come true? And did anybody get a dream unit without any points? Me, not so much. I am happy to have drawn a controlled hunt tag, but maybe sad to have burned two points on a single point or zero point hunt. I just hope the fire season does not impact our season too much.

Non resident (native oregonian) - drew my rifle bull tag. Not really surprising, but still happy. Looking forward to it as its been a few years since i've gone ( and no, didn't put in for points, drew with 0).

What is it you are confused about?

I’m confused about my own planning. I drew a tag, maybe not one worth two points. (I had one point going in this year, so if I pass I’ll have two) Last year I made a huge mistake and haven’t gotten over it. 2025 I drew 253R1 (Eagle Cap) with zero points and I passed on it- before the 2025 draw results I had agreed to hunt over the counter Rosie’s on the coast with a buddy- because I had said I would hunt with him, I passed on the Eagle Caps. Then he bailed on me and I hunted on Weyerhaeuser land solo. So coming into this year I was planning on doing the same coast thing solo- I don’t think there was any way I’d get that lucky again, and started to plan on saving the points- but I drew 248R2 Heppner this go round. I don’t think I can pass on that tag, but that was my primary plan. That’s all.

You have a tag. Lots of people don’t.

The grass is always greener somewhere.

Just go to the unit, find some elk and kill one. And have fun doing it.

Yeah buddy! Thats the plan. I’m excited and plan to take full advantage of the opportunity. Honestly this is a pretty great year for me. I got this tag, a saddle mountain doe tag, and a unit 43 mule deer tag in Idaho. I’m grateful.
