The local populous that uses the ochoco mountain area is the scum of the earth. I’ve never loathed a group of people like I do them. I hunted it for elk archery a few seasons. Cool area but the littering, off-road abuse, and poaching/spotlighting was more than I could handle.

Yeah, disappointing to say the least… the jackass on the atv was retrieving a bull killed by someone in their family, group of like 6 guys walking around with rifles probably all hunting off one tag but they could not find the bull they had already gutted… we found it dead with no tag on it then saw it later hanging in camp. Group was not smart enough to realize a hanging bull elk right outside a travel management area doesn’t make a lot of sense haha, would need some strong fellas to drag it out whole.

If you have family or friends that hunt but don’t have points have them join up as long as the average is 5 or above. Even with the changes you’re likely to draw many units I’d be interested in if you can get that average.

If that isn’t your situation I recommend hitching your application to someone with established experience in an area that’s willing to trade guiding or at least detailed unit information for your points.

No immediate family members hunt, & family/friends that do are not interested in burning their points right now.
Probably gonna be Solo for me.

Can you shoot a muzzy?

If so there’s some options..

If money isn’t an issue id go with Taylor Albertson and do se, he hunts hard and knows that country well. I’m going to take my kid on a youth hunt with him this year. I know what to expect so it’s going to be fun.
