Hi All,

Been a member for a while and this is my 1st posting.
Seeking advice on how to best build the best setup for the type of hunts I do: Sept. archery elk, 3rd rifle mule deer, Wisconsin whitetail rut hunting from saddle or stand. I will eventually mix in an antelope hunt. Looking to simplify my optics kit, upgrade where needed, and sell the optics I don’t really need or use. Thanks in advance!

Here is my current kit:
  1. Vortex Razor UHD 10x50
  2. Vortex Razor UHD 18x56
  3. Sig Zulu 6 16x42 stabilized
  4. Vortex Viper 15-45x60 spotting scope

I have gone through the same thing and these days, the only optics I really ever carry are my 10x binos. Sometimes I bring my 18's, but I almost never use them, except sometimes for Mule Deer. With the 10s I can tell bull or cow elk at about 4 miles. I think it also depends on what type of hunter you are. If you only want to shoot giants, then I think a spotter or high-powered binos would be worth it to carry.

Yeah…I honestly think i’ve overbought and would have better off buying one and sticking with it. I find myself using the 16x42 Zulu 6 the most but honestly wish I would have purchased the 12x42 instead. The 16s are too much magnification for whitetail and Sept. elk in the timber.

Thanks for the reply!
