Optic choice for still hunting / deer drives in northeast timber?

My woods gun (a 16" Ruger SFAR) wears a 1-6 Credo HX to have the options for close up work...that lever flips pretty quick when needed. My young eyes absolutely love the red dot.

Not much help on specifics...

But my OG vx6 2-12, while it lacks all of the features I want now, and might not hold zero if you believe what you read on the internet.... optically is perfect for that 15-250 yards range. If i foresaw the gun only being used in woods id find a good SFP 2-12 (or similar) and be happy. I tended to think 3x was too much on close running shots. I'd lose all perspective.

But I tried that 2-12 in 3 gun with a piggieback dot, and it has been money on those quick 20 yard shots.

Nah no can, I have a quiver full of short suppressed rifles in all the hot calibers
This is gonna be a dedicated NY rifle
I hate taking cans off to hunt NY.. PA problems lol
This is gonna be a no brake no can situation, all offhand shots

You’re from PA, the obvious answer is a 7600 in 30-06 with a 3-9x in a sky high see through mount so you can use the irons for the close shots.

Personally I run have run either a 1-10 Gen 3 Razor or a NX8 2.5-20 on my deer rifles for the past 6 years though I lean more towards the NX8.

My first deer rifle was a Marlin 336 35 remington w/ a 3-9 tasco in the see thru rings.. I was cool before GBRS and the Unity risers were even a thought
