Curious to see if the hive mind agrees with me here
Im snagging one of the Kimber Adirondacks we got in as a special buy, im thinking ill drop a accupoint 3-9 w/ the red post on it.
Talley one piece rings for the mounts, I dunno of anything else that will be a one piece solution and id prefer to not stack the tolerance with a pic rail.

Most of my hunting is a lot of close in still hunting / deer drives, shots over 100 are extremely uncommon with most shots being 50-75yds
Accupoint is lightweight, flexible, and I'm thinking inside of 25yds i can put the entire illuminated portion of the reticle over a deers chest and fold it up...

Anybody got anything against my thought process?

So the real question is, are you going to run a can on it? I will definitely be keeping mine lightweight. Ill probably run a vortex razor LH 1.5-8x32.

Nah no can, I have a quiver full of short suppressed rifles in all the hot calibers
This is gonna be a dedicated NY rifle
I hate taking cans off to hunt NY.. PA problems lol
This is gonna be a no brake no can situation, all offhand shots

Might be tough to beat. The only question that comes to mind is how dark you can expect the more extreme end of your shooting conditions to be, and whether Accupoint is be as bright as you need (which it probably will).

When I actually stand hunt up there I use my 300 PRC w/ a Swaro Z6i on it.. lot of stories of locals stealing deer that run off after being shot so I make sure I anchor them 🤣 Glass is bright on the z6, this rifles just gonna be for driving.. were usually at the watering hole before dark up there anyways haha!

Your plan sounds solid. Another option would be the SWFA 2.5-10x32. I have several that I use in PA and other states on small lightweight guns.

For a non dialing scope I really like the G4 reticle in the HD LH scopes. Its a big bold reticle for close up work even when light isnt great. The ticks for hold over are simple and well placed and the little dot makes shooting groups or zeroing quite precise. I think the 1.5-8x32 is very nice scope for the OP's use.

For what you’re describing, you might want to check into the Trijicon MRO Green or a RMR. you really don’t need any magnification out to 100 yards.

had an LPVO on my Marlin lever gun, it was great for quick target acquisition as a brush/clear cut gun but I am debating switching to a dot with a flip-able 3x magnifier, could be sweet for your application

I put a 2.5-10x56 Accupoint on my MN whitetail gun and it’s my favorite scope I’ve ever owned. Kinda still wish I got the post reticle rather than the mil dot, but that’s just bc I like the post. The dot is great

My only hesitation for a low end of 1 is when i see a tail flicker im instantly shouldered and looking at headgear, on a 1-8 or similar, I need to crank the magnification to at least 3 to get a good look if the deer is more than 50yds when it starts moving thru the woods

When I hunt in the East Texas woods, I just leave my scope on 2.5 or 3x and forget about it.
1) I know a lot of people get their panties in a wad over drop testing, but my Leupold 3-9's have never failed me.

2) A simple duplex Reticle is all I want in the woods because there are no hold overs.

3) My newest scope is a Trijon Huron. Simple, built like a tank, and good glass. I think the illuminated Trijicon reticles are too complicated for my style of hunting.

Not for shooting. The magnification is for picking a hole through a bajillion beech whips that are +\- invisible to the naked eye. Its not the be-all, but it definitely can help.

I agree in some cases but the accupoint is not like that. Its always on and requires no power, so no batteries to run out. And the reticles are as simple as it gets—if you like a duplex, the duplex accupoint just has a dot where the crosshairs cross. The post reticle is literally just a post with the tip lit-up. It doesnt get any simpler than that.

This is where I’m at with my thinking of a bottom end higher than 1x.
Cranking the power to look at a tail flaring thru the woods takes precious seconds

Im on the 1-6 train for that use, but I would not argue against a 3-9ish. If trijicon made a 1.5 or 2-8x32 accupoint I’d own several. They dont, so I do the best I can to balance my priorities.

I’ve got a 16” 45-70 Marlin trapper with an Acro, a Remington 760 cut to 16” with a GPO 1-6, & a Q fix with a Z8i+ 1-8.
I dunno I’m just not crazy bout the aesthetic of a LPVO on the Kimber… looking cool is half the battle
