Hey All,

After a long hiatus, I plan to start hunting again this year.

I purchased a Pentax spotting scope, but now that I got it, I think it's a bit bulky and that the magnification of 21-63X might be a bit much. It also seems that a lot of people are switching to binos.

What do you guys think, sell and cut my losses or stick with it through deer season. The advantage of selling now is that it's practically brand new and likely will sell for more in that condition.

Thanks!

I’m a big bino guy

but, that’s a great scope. You can use astronomical eye pieces and get really wide views or high magnification that other spotters normally can’t do.

use quality eye pieces and you get some crazy sharp views and resolutions too

I think in most cases binos are a must, but you do have an amazing scope on your hands. My pentax 65ED holds its own beside my swarovski spotter.

I’d personally keep the scope and try and find a budget set of binos to get you going again. Good luck this season.

Thanks for the replies!
On the plus side, I was able to dig up my dad's old Leica Trinovid 10x40! 45 years old and still super sharp!
