What is everyone's preferred phone gps? I see benefits to both onx and spartan forge. Just curious to what y'all think is the best.

I've been using onX for years so I'm most familiar and comfortable with it and the features.

I just started using Spartan Forge, and I like it so far. I plan to use it alongside onX this year to see how the features compare.

Started using SF a few weeks ago. Still learning the layout system. I might be missing something but I'd like there to be some better organization to pins/geographic markers. I like in OnX that I can have a folder of a hunt plan or specific type of pin.

Aside from organization, I like SF more than OnX at this point

Haven't see a reason to leave OnX.

LiDAR imaging is like a better version of topo. It can show land features that are hidden by vegetation. I haven't fully transitioned to SF yet but i like it so far. Its similar but different so it takes a little playing with to get used to

LiDAR is excellent but doesn't work in half the places I hunt. The resolution is terrible.

I tried SF ever so briefly. Wasn't impressed. In my area, their LIDAR looked exactly the same as the Shaded Relief baselayer in CalTopo that's free. I didn't see the value in SF.

The features in ONx are great. The new shed view is super helpful. But it isn't the be all end all for scouting. I still use it in conjunction with Google maps, Huntwise, and others. In the end it is what you are comfortable using.

I have been using OnX for a while, since 2017ish. I like it a lot overall. It is very user friendly in my opinion and has a simple layout.
I decided to try Spartan Forge at the beginning of the year and it has been so so. I like the features but the layout and and layers is not user friendly, it is too busy with a lot of stuff that is tough to determine what it is and what it does. I have another 4-5 months with it so we will see how it goes through hunting season.

If you utilize a laptop or desktop OnX is far superior. The Desktop version of SF is basically unusable in my opinion.
