Northern Ontario woods are a lot thicker than most US destinations. Most locals just drive logging roads and shoot what they see that way. The woods up there is called "the bush" for a reason. Very hard to get good dog work areas. Not to say it cant be done but, dont go into it blindly, or you may be riding around with the dog and shooting from the road, with no dog work. My favorite area to hunt with dogs although not grouse woods was South Dakota. The public and semi private public access lands out there for pheasants was phenomenal. We hunted just west of the Missouri river basin, saw hundreds of roosters daily. Lots of areas for dog work. Plus they have sharptails and prairie chickens. Good luck, in your quest. Ski
